Art is how we decorate Space. Music is how we decorate Time.
The Arts, perhaps more than any other language, stimulate our whole being to experience that which we might not otherwise recognize. What better language then, than music and art, can we use to approach God and to be shaped by the Spirit? Building upon a long tradition, we at First Presbyterian Church provide music and arts opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to sing and pray with the Spirit using their own unique artistic voices.

The Sanctuary Choir is composed of 40-50 adults who provide worship leadership most Sunday mornings at 10:30am, in addition to festival Sundays and large choral works offered seasonally.
Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 7:00 – 8:30pm.
The Youth Choir is composed of singers in grades 7 – 12 and generally does worship leadership one Sunday each month during 10:30a.m. worship. They also prepare services for special Youth Sundays and outreach services to local retirement homes.
Junior Choir and Orff Choir
The Junior Choir is composed of children grades 2 – 6 and focuses on vocal development, worship understanding, and incorporating instruction and use of Orff instruments. They provide worship leadership once each month at the 10:30a.m. service. They also participate in the annual Christmas Pageant, Palm Sunday and Easter Vigil services, and semi-annual musicals.
The adult handbell choir, JuBELLation, rehearses on Sundays at 8:00a.m. They provide service music, hymn, scripture and liturgy enhancement, and participate in festival Sundays. They present handbell recitals or programs upon request.
First Presbyterian Church’s Handbell ensembles ring on 4 1/2 octaves of Malmark handbells and a 5 octave set of Malmark Hand Chimes, all a gift from a generous anonymous donor. Over the years, the Summerwill and Todd families have generously supported our handbell program. The Summerwill Handbell Endowment Fund continues to offer yearly supplements to our handbell ministry funds.
Open to ages high school to adult, this ensemble leads worship for festival Sundays and other special services, accompanying hymns and anthems and providing service music at least monthly. Rehearsals are each Sunday at 11:45a.m.
If you play or have played a woodwind instrument, dust it off and come join this ensemble! Rehearsals are each Monday at 7:30p.m. in the Choir Room.
Adult Chamber Ensemble
Our congregation is blessed with many fine string players who come together to accompany large choral works and lead worship on festival Sundays. They accompany worship hymns and anthems frequently as well, or on occasion, join the Brass and Woodwind ensembles creating a Churchestra. The group is comprised of mature high school players and adults. Rehearsals are arranged.
Youth Chamber Ensemble
This group of youth string players is open to those who have finished Suzuki book II or the equivalent. Rehearsals and worship leadership are arranged as needed.
The Phelps Organ
Designed specifically for First Presbyterian Church, the Phelps Organ was constructed and installed by Lawrence Phelps, an internationally recognized authority who had built and installed pipe organs in many diverse locations. Read all about the details of the organ by clicking here.
