From Valerie Soemadi

When I left Maryland Friday night things looked good. My dad was able to sit up and stand to get into a whellchair with some assistance, did about 30 minutes of OT in the morning, sat in a chair for about 45 minutes. I then had to leave to fly home. After lunch the nurse said he did about 30 minutes of PT.

Saturday, things started going downhill. He was refusing to take medication and does not wan to eat or drink. The nurses say they cannot force him, which I do understand. So my mom was there to make him take his chemo drug in the morning and evening; however, he still will not eat. All he does is say, "I'm sick, I'm so sick." Family members try to tell him if he eats then he'll feel better, but he refuses. He also sontinues to say, "Please help me, please help me."I beleive it's form the not eating, he becomes very delerious at times. This morning my mom receiveda call from the rehab center telling her that my dad fell out of bed. They were transferring him to the hospital in that town, Chambersburg, to have him checked out.

Please continue to have him on the prayer list. I'm going to myclassroom today to check on last weeks student progress and start planning for the next few weeks. I do have a meeting Monday morning with the district finance secretaryto talk about FMLA leave.

From Valerie Soemadi:  I'm not sure who to contact, but I need to ask for prayer through next week. We are flying out to Baltimore tomorrow. My dad was having tests for a few days at Johns Hopkins-Bayview Campus. While at the hotel, my dad took a turn for the worse...having tremors and blood pressure was dangerously low. He was ambulanced to Hopkins and is currently in ICU. He is very scared and has asked for his children to come in and meet with the doctors Saturday. He wants our input on how to proceed with his care and what he does and does not want should he deteriorate further.

A scan this week has revealed a spot on his liver. After having 5 more liters drained from his abdomen, an MRI was performed to gain more insight on the spot. The doctors believe it is cancer. If so, we will discuss treatment options; surgery is not an option at this time because of his health and lack of stomach muscles.

My dad did not want any of this posted on Facebook, until after we meet with doctors on Saturday, but is fine with releasing information to prayer chains.

This will be an especially trying week for me, since I have been the main child (with much help from my loving husband) helping my parents through the last several years dealing with my dad's Myelofibrosis Leukemia and trial drugs....having to deal with 3 brothers who have, by their choice, have very little knowledge of what my parents have been going through these past years. I pray God give me patience, the wisdom to hold my tongue, and strength to maintain peace between siblings and parents.

Thank you for bearing through this email and I am so grateful for a wonderful church family.
