Sam Massey

From Valerie Soemadi:

I'm not sure who to contact, but I need to ask for prayer through next week. We are flying out to Baltimore tomorrow. My dad was having tests for a few days at Johns Hopkins-Bayview Campus. While at the hotel, my dad took a turn for the worse...having tremors and blood pressure was dangerously low. He was ambulanced to Hopkins and is currently in ICU. He is very scared and has asked for his children to come in and meet with the doctors Saturday. He wants our input on how to proceed with his care and what he does and does not want should he deteriorate further.

A scan this week has revealed a spot on his liver. After having 5 more liters drained from his abdomen, an MRI was performed to gain more insight on the spot. The doctors believe it is cancer. If so, we will discuss treatment options; surgery is not an option at this time because of his health and lack of stomach muscles.

My dad did not want any of this posted on Facebook, until after we meet with doctors on Saturday, but is fine with releasing information to prayer chains.

This will be an especially trying week for me, since I have been the main child (with much help from my loving husband) helping my parents through the last several years dealing with my dad's Myelofibrosis Leukemia and trial drugs....having to deal with 3 brothers who have, by their choice, have very little knowledge of what my parents have been going through these past years. I pray God give me patience, the wisdom to hold my tongue, and strength to maintain peace between siblings and parents.

Thank you for bearing through this email and I am so grateful for a wonderful church family.
