How Did the Kindness Campaign Start?
The Congregational Health Ministry (CHM) met early in the spring of 2022 to explore projects for the coming year. In the past we have sponsored educational offerings on Alzheimer’s Disease, mental health issues, and end of life decisions leading to a program called Honoring Your Wishes. We have sponsored the annual Grief Group which is ongoing. We explored the Kindness Campaign of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Dubuque, Iowa. After talking to John Stewart, the project manager for their campaign, we decided to model a similar campaign here at FPC after theirs, but to make it “our own.” We received approval from the Board of Deacons and then the Session. We received fifteen hundred dollars from the FPC Endowment Fund! CHM developed an action plan, and we began work in earnest in April 2022.
Fall of 2024 we continued the campaign with a work day at Houses into Homes where a group of 20 FPC volunteers
loaded and delivered to 6 local families.
