Prayers for my family: my dad's uncle (1 of my grandpa's younger brothers) Jim Torrens of Omaha, died Wednesday afternoon. Jim & Joann didn't have kids of their own; they treated all of us as their kids/grandkids. As you might guess, none of us are going to services because of covid concerns.
Also, my uncle (1 of my mom's younger brothers) Jim Rife, was in a rollover truck accident 2 nights ago. He was upside down, they had to cut him out; nonresponsive, so they cut open both lungs & then put him on respirator in the field. Needless to say, bad prognosis & too many injuries to name; doing MRI today, should determine extent of brain damage. At 70, Jim retired from a lifetime of trucking last summer but was still working because he couldn't sit still. Thank you, Deb

Friends, we're requesting prayers for Gary's rapid recovery. He recently fell and fractured his left hip. It's a clean break that won't require surgery, just plenty of rest between aggressive therapy sessions that will total 3 hours a day. He spent 2 nights at UIHC but is now settling in at UIHC's new rehabilitation hospital in Coralville. Fall arrived this week, and I enjoy seasonal fall more than physical fall! Thanks, friends!

We want to ask everyone to pray for our son, David Oglesby, who had open heart surgery late last night (Wednesday 9/16) for a tear in his aorta. Dave was driving home from work when he began to feel really ill and called a friend, with whom he was going to have an early-evening walk. He ended up calling 911 and was taken to the ER at UIHC. Shortly thereafter he was taken to surgery; the procedure took about six hours. He is on the road to recovery, but will be in “rest mode” for several weeks. Please pray for our daughter, Heather. She had a spinal tap on Wednesday in St Paul and is staying with us for a few days. One of the after effects can be bad headaches. The procedure was done to get a more definite diagnosis of MS. She does have MS. We are in the ER right now to try and alleviate the headache. Thanks!

Hi new update on mom. She's got an abscessed gallbladder, cirrhosis, fluid build up and bowel blockage caused by the cirrhosis, Iv cancer in the abdomen. Doctor said less than 50% probability she would get strong enough for chemo, then the chemo has small chance of extending her life . Needless to say we're beside ourselves with much sadness and trying to understand what Gods plan is , My brother is really trying hard to keep it together.But he's truly afraid, scared and feeling lonely. I have to believe our God is still the God of miracles. Sorry to go on..on, We're praying so SO hard. Please pray for her, Thank you, Dana

As rain falls for days in a Iowa, alleviating drought, friends in Oregon have been evacuated from their home in preparation for a consuming fire. The two events are meteorologically related. Please pray for respite for our western friends and for the rebalancing of the earth.
